POP ROC PARTIES Instagram Flat Lay Challenge

PARTY FLAT LAY IMAGE

We have finally jumped on the ever so fun ‘flat lay’ instagram challenge and started a:

PARTY FLAT LAY

Monthly challenge just for you!

I decided to do this challenge because I have a wee flat lay addiction and I know so many others do too!

This is a great chance to creatively express yourself using party type objects which may be a party outfit, flowers, party food, party decorations, party tableware, or planning your next party etc

HOW TO PLAY

At the end of the month I will post a #partyflatlay image on instagram and facebook for the upcoming month’s challenge to help you prepare

Each month the challenge with be the first three days of the month with a different theme per day

To enter you must tag @poprocparties and use the hashtag #partyflatlay

To go in the draw to win the prize you must complete the three day challenge by 7th day of the Month.

If you account is private we can’t see your posts

At the end of the challenge I will draw a lucky winner

Have fun!

WHAT IS A FLAT LAY?

A flat lay is styled arrangement on a flat surfaced and photographed from a bird’s eye view

FLAT LAY TIPS

-I prefer to always use a white or neutral background,  I like white as its clear and makes items pop

-Photograph in natural light in the middle of the day as the light is best at this time (too early is too bright and too late is has a blue tone, it also helps minimise shadows)

-I always use the square camera function on my phone as it’s a perfect flat lay guideline and I edit using the snapseed app

-I always check my composition from my photo and then decide to alter before taking another photo

-Make sure there is a good amount of spacing between objects so the objects are defined on their own and it helps your image from looking too cluttered

-Experiment with textures and colours

-You can balance your image with different size objects and I prefer styling items in odd numbers

-Aim to tell a story and stick to a theme for each image
