I originally spotted these amazing swan straws on Pinterest by Shop Sweet Lulu
When I planned Sophia’s Swan Lake birthday party I knew I had to make these swan lake DIY party straws!
My versions of these straws slightly differ from the ones I spotted on Pinterest but I’m really happy with how they turned out!
So you need:
Hot glue gun
White pipe cleaners
Small white feathers
Small polystyrene balls
Small screw driver
Paintbrush for gluing on glitter
Silver foil paper straws
To start carefully poke a hole through the polystyrene ball with a small screw driver (about the width of the straws)
Place the straws through the holes of the balls almost half way down the straw
Shape the pipe cleaners into a S shape
Trim the end of the pipe cleaner and poke another hole 2/3’s of the way down the ball and insert the pipe cleaner
Trim the feathers back with scissors so they proportional to the balls
Glue the feather on the ball horizontally with the glue gun
Then glue another feather pointing upwards, then repeat on the opposite side
With a paint brush add some PVA glue to the end of the feathers where they were glued on, then sprinkle with silver glitter
I served the girls lemonade with these pretty swan lake straws in our quilted jars!
There are so many variations you could do to theme it your party!
If you give these a go, we would love to see!
I love the idea of mid winter Christmas celebrations and I’m actually rather envious of white Christmas’s. So I thought I would style a scandi mid winter Christmas table setting
One year I would love to have a white Christmas but in the meantime I’m happy to celebrate during our winter months (without the snow)
Last Christmas I styled a few basic themed tables for ideas of how to use our Christmas products and my favourite was the nordic/scandi styled one which I think is also lovely for a winter wonderland or mid winter Christmas party
Silver and white were the colours I stuck too with a few naturals and the Reindeer blackboard pegs which are perfect for writing names as the place setting
Candles are always a must for dinner parties and these antler candle holders we stock are just the ticket
These winter terrariums were such an easy throw together table decoration. I just added some snowflakes and a Reindeer topper into the hanging glass bauble vases
These Reindeer tea light holders are perfect as a table decoration or hanging light
I love using cake stands to serve any type of food and also decorations, these disco balls added a bit of glam to the table!
This is one of my favourite details our wooden snowflake decorations tied around our mini milk bottles with a birch paper straw
I wanted the table setting to be simple using our silver scallop platters, reindeer blackboard pegs, cotton drawstring bags (hand stamped Merry Christmas) perfect for popping a little gift or thank you card in it for your guests!
Do you host mid winter dinner parties?
